Job Description

Remedy Health Media is looking for an experienced and talented UI designer to join our Product Management team. The UI designer will help shape unique, user-centric products and experiences across all Remedy’s software development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a problem solving mindset, have experience working in agile teams in a fast paced environment, and are able to work on several parallel projects. While working with Developers and Product Managers on daily basis they will be presented with UI related issues and asked to find solutions that both suit the business asks and are technically feasible. They will also be an essential part of brand new product development efforts at Remedy Health Media, making deliberate design decisions and translating user experience journeys unto a smooth user interactions.

This is a full-time position based in Arlington, VA. There is potential for short trips to New York for specific projects.    

Responsibilities

·         Collaborate daily with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience.

·         Being able to produce concept wireframes and later translate them into color mockups. 

·         Create, improve and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and mockups to effectively communicate your interaction ideas to various groups of stakeholders.

·         Work with the teammates to ensure consistency across platforms, document design solutions and understand how design impacts user experience.

·         Develop and upkeep standards documentation of style guide enhancements.

·         Implement visual design to support agile environment practices, providing solutions based on style guides and understanding of user research, feedback, and testing.

·         Continually keep yourself updated with the latest changes in the industry’s standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

·         Four or more years of experience and proven track record (A portfolio to be presented and defended during interview.)

·         Experience with the systems development life cycle and Agile.

·         Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc.

·         Experience using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, Illustrator, InVision, UXPin, Quartz.

·         Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.

·         Familiarity with web trends and best practices for UX/UI design.

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Motivation and the ability to self-direct, including setting priorities and meeting deadlines.

·         Ability to work both as part of a team and independently, and to manage complex and simultaneous projects.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills to clearly convey technical information to internal and external clients.

 

·         Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, or other related field.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Producing a variety of multimedia design elements for the editorial, marketing, and social media needs of Remedy Health Media
  • Creating, curating and editing of graphics / infographics, photography, animations, videos, story promos, immersive story telling components, and more
  • Serves as a liaison between the multimedia and editorial / marketing teams, overseeing multimedia resources, concept, and schedules and for editorial and marketing projects
  • Follows an efficient and thorough design, review, revision and launch process to support the volume of design needs
  • Manages and organizes library of photography and design assets
  • Assists the multimedia team in organizing media, setting up video edit projects in Adobe Premiere, creating graphics / lower 3rds in After Effects, and reviewing video edits, color correction, mix etc from contractors
  • Contributes to the goals and direction of the multimedia team as we continue to improve on Remedy Health Media’s multimedia experiences
  • Remains up to date with emerging media and technology trends across the web
  • This position reports to the multimedia director
  • 3 – 5 years experience in multimedia design or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in multimedia design or related field
  • Demonstrated design and aesthetic sensibilities
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment
  • Organized, diligent, motivated and attentive to detail
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and After effects
  • We’d love it if you have experience working with content management systems
  • Clear writing and communication skills.

Desired Skills and Experience:

We are seeking a Back End Engineer to join our best in class Engineering team. Back end engineers, in collaboration with our front-end team, help drive our architecture and platform.  We work on beautiful, responsive web applications and we need you to help build our processes, introduce APIs, analyze data and architect SQL and noSQL databases in the back-end.  We support multiple products so the right person can make significant impact to our entire platform and help drive engaging content to our users.

Responsibilities

  • Build REST APIs, backend integration and ETL processes and server side processes for web/mobile friendly web applications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.

  • 4-6 years web development experience; preferably in a start up environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively. Both written and face-to-face communication is vital to this role

  • Expert critical thinking and problem solving abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and relentless attention to detail

  • Flexible personality with the ability to juggle multiple high priority projects

  • Experience with back-end technologies.  We use Ruby on Rails, NodeJS and PHP.  Experience on one or more of these is a big plus

  • Ability to query, extract and analyze data using advanced SQL (know why EXISTS is better than IN?  Tell us)

  • Expertise in data modeling/database design and ETL processes to retrieve and process and integrate data from various data repositories

  • Familiarity with backend application architecture, ORMs, unit testing and Continuous integration principles

  • Exposure in building and consuming REST APIs using JSON/XML and other data formats

  • Experience with relational (MySQL) and non-relational databases (MongoDB), including the ability to transform and interchange data between the two
