EMarketer estimates that this year the two companies will capture 56.8% of U.S. digital ad investment. That’s down from 58.5% last year. South Florida Gay News: Publix Allegedly Denies PrEP Coverage For Employees

Supermarket chain Publix has allegedly denied coverage to those employees looking to get PrEP drugs for HIV prevention. The allegations come after Emory University Assistant Professor of Medicine David Holland could not acquire drugs for one of the patients in his Georgia PrEP clinic who worked at the store, according to the Body, a resource for HIV/AIDS. The patient appealed and was rejected twice, which Holland said they were the only person in the entire clinic to have this issue. Read More...

Publix, a large supermarket chain in the southeastern U.S., has reportedly refused to cover HIV prevention medication through its employee insurance plans. Publix has excluded coverage for medication used in the prevention strategy known as PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, reports The Body, a site devoted to news about HIV and AIDS. Truvada is the only drug so far approved for use as PrEP, which involves taking the medication daily to prevent the user from acquiring HIV if exposed. Studies have indicated it is nearly 100 percent effective in preventing HIV transmission if taken as directed. Read More...

Apple is cracking down on ad tracking through Safari, and the first publishers to feel the pain are those who rely heavily on programmatic advertising.

Programmatic publishers’ ad rates have taken a hit since Apple updated its Safari browser last month to prevent third parties from tracking users for more than 24 hours after a user visited a website. Although Apple’s move hurts publishers reliant on third-party data that advertisers depend on to target niche audiences at scale, publishers that sell their inventory directly say they aren’t affected by the Safari update.
